PHOTOS: Mother-Daughter Lookalikes Compete at The Avenue
The Friday evening event drew dozens of lookalike pairs.
UPDATE (May 9, 10:30)—Shoppers were seeing double Friday evening as dozens of mother-daughter pairs—many wearing identical outfits—competed in The Avenue at White Marsh's annual lookalike contest.
The Mother's Day weekend event offered cash and gift prizes to a small selection of strikingly similar women and girls.
"We wanted to spend some quality time together," said Linda Hawks, a Baltimore resident who competed with her mother Danielle Crawford.

"We wanted an excuse to get out," said Crawford, who laughed that a participant had accused her of competing with her sister.
Only upon closer inspection was it clear that some doppelgangers were separated by two to three decades in age.

For some participants, the contest provided a way to connect with the younger generation.
"We're always so busy, but this is something fun we can do together," said Heather Long of Essex, who competed with her 14-year-old daughter Holly.
"It makes a memory," she added.
Laurie DeYoung of WPOC radio emceed the event and announced the following winners:
