Pokémon Go Craze Creates Niche Market in Baltimore Suburbs

Craigslist ads around the Baltimore metro area offer services from boat trips to 'race car' rides to catch the Pokémon character.

Around the Baltimore suburbs, police have been advising Pokémon Go players not to multitask.

While playing the virtual reality game, whose goal is to catch the Pokémon character, authorities say users may be distracted and become injured or victims of crimes.

Multiple people have stepped up to offer their services in a new niche market for Pokémon Go players.

From the waters of the Gunpowder River to the landmarks around Catonsville, drivers are offering to chauffeur Pokémon Go players for a price.

In Catonsville, one Craigslist ad promotes "PokéCab," which will take people around Baltimore County and Baltimore City, and even offers to catch Pokémon for people too. The rate is $15 an hour for driving and $10 an hour to catch Pokémon for players.

There was an ad for a boater looking to help people catch the "rare water Pokémon" on a pontoon boat along the Gunpowder River between Baltimore and Harford counties, according to Fox 45; however, as of Friday, that post has been removed from Craigslist.

One person has offered to provide snacks in a "race car" for those looking to catch Pokémon in Carroll County and surrounding areas. Two hours of driving, complete with the beverage and snack service, is $30, according to the Craigslist ad.
