UPDATE: Bel Air Man Suspected of Multiple Kingsville Burglaries

At least four home burglaries had been committed in Kingsville within 10 days.

UPDATE (Nov. 23, 9:21 a.m.)—Baltimore County police on Thursday arrested a Bel Air man suspected of involvement in in the Kingsville area, officials said.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, police responded to a burglary in the 700 block of Bradshaw Road in Kingsvillle after a neighbor reported hearing loud noises, according to Louise Rogers-Feher, a police spokeswoman.

Police arrested 25-year-old Jacob Shumaker at the nearby intersection of Chapman Road and Cedar Lane, Rogers-Feher said. He was found carrying jewelry and other valuables, she said.

Shumaker, of the 700 block of Clifton Terrance in Bel Air, was charged with first-degree burglary and theft between $10,000 and $100,000, court records show.

Police said he may be responsible for multiple recent burglaries. Rogers-Feher said the investigation is ongoing and he is being held at the .

Two Kingsville burglaries were reported on Dec. 15.

On that day, between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., jewelry and cash were taken from a home in the , . A witness saw a white van with a Maryland license plate and two men wearing baseball caps and brown coats in front of the house. The men destroyed a rear basement door, causing $70 in damage, and stole several pieces of jewelry and $950 in cash, according to a police report.

Also on Dec. 15, between 7:10 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., a rear window to a home in the 7000 block of Mt. Vista Road was pried open. Several dressers and drawers were ransacked, but nothing was taken, a police report stated. 

Another burglary was reported on Dec. 12, . Between 12:15 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. in the , a front door frame was destroyed, $900 in cash was stolen and more than $13,000 worth of jewelry was taken. A male suspect was seen fleeing the scene toward Gontrum Road, a police report shows.

Lt. Paul Franzoni of the said the recent rash in was unusual for the area.
