Redevelopment Ahead for The Avenue at White Marsh
Ice rink, fire pits are among changes coming to The Avenue at White Marsh during multimillion-dollar renovation.

WHITE MARSH, MD – Changes are on the way for The Avenue at White Marsh, from the installation of fire pits to an ice rink, as part of a multimillion-dollar effort to update the shopping area in the next year.
Federal Realty Investment Trust, which owns The Avenue on Honeygo Boulevard, will be redeveloping the shopping center in two phases starting this May, officials announced this week.
The first phase includes the installation of an outdoor ice skating rink measuring 60 by 115 feet, set to open this winter, according to a statement from The Avenue management.

Other phase one improvements include wifi capability, fire pits, turf feature, more common area seating, decorative lighting, a fountain/water feature and revamped patio seating, the statement said.
"Through this process, we will simplify the main entrance area to allow for an additional 3,600 square feet of restaurant space that will include outdoor dining—while gaining approximately 35 parking spaces for visitors," Lisa Geiger, marketing manager for The Avenue at White Marsh, said.

As changes are underway, the summer concert series will be on hiatus this year, she noted.
The second phase of redevelopment will take place in 2017 and center around the streetscape, to be completed by summer 2017, officials said.
In addition, The Avenue at White Marsh is rolling out a new logo as it refreshes its image.
