Smallcakes Cupcakery Opening In White Marsh

WHITE MARSH, MD — The Avenue at White Marsh announced it will welcome a "wildly popular" cupcake shop by the end of the year.

Smallcakes Cupcakery will open next to Slice pizzeria by the end of December.

The cupcakery has more than 100 locations across the U.S. and is even in Dubai.

It offers 18 cupcake flavors and 15 small-batch ice cream flavors inspired by and infused with its cupcakes.

Current cupcake flavors include, among others, hot fudge sundae, which has chocolate cake, buttercream frosting, roasted pecans and a cherry on top; and wedding cake, which has almond cake and almond buttercream frosting.

Jeff Martin started Smallcakes in 2008 in Overland Park, Kansas. The concept has spread across the country on the heels of appearances on the Food Network's "Cupcake Wars" and in USA Today's "10 great places to grab a gourmet cupcake."

The Avenue at White Marsh location would be the first Smallcakes to open in Maryland.
