Soukup Park Opens in Perry Hall

Soukup Park has opened in Perry Hall, Baltimore County Councilman David Marks announced this week.

Located on Joppa Road, east of Honeygo Boulevard, the 30-acre park includes a 12,000-square-foot arena with a 9,000-square-foot gymnasium and 3,000 square feet of additional space.

Construction began in March 2014, with contributions of $2.95 million from Baltimore County and more than $1.5 million from the Perry Hall Recreation Council.

The project honors the contributions of Jerry and Pat Soukup, for whom the site is named.

Jerry Soukup helped found the Perry Hall Recreation Council in 1955, and he and his late wife, Pat, raised money from concession stand sales and events for a gym to house the organization’s sports leagues, according to a statement from Baltimore County.
