WHITE MARSH, MD — Steak 'n Shake will open in the White Marsh area this summer. It will be the first location in Baltimore County for the chain, which serves up hamburgers, steakburgers, hot dogs, milkshakes and more.

The 2,100-square-foot restaurant will open in the Greenleigh at Crossroads development between White Marsh and Middle River.

Located at 750 Concourse Circle, Steak 'n Shake will be near Michael’s Café, Thai Rainbow, the UPS Store, Polishes Nail and Spa, Mallia Salon & Spa, Crossroads Wine and Spirits, Dunkin' Donuts and Subway.

"Steak ‘n Shake brings signature food and beverage items to our restaurant mix and the restaurant menu appeals to consumers throughout all times of the day, including late at night," St. John Properties Vice President of Retail Leasing Bill Holzman said in a statement. "They are considered a high value meal, and the counter-service style of ordering significantly reduces the amount of time needed to dine, which will be extremely attractive to employees working in the surrounding buildings."

St. John Properties is developing the Baltimore Crossroads, a campus near Interstate 95 and MD 43 that can support 2.5 million square feet of warehouse, office, residential, industrial and retail space.

The concept plan for Greenleigh at Crossroads — the latest part of the project under development — calls for 1,900 residences; more than 1.76 million square feet of retail and commercial space; and a SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel with 120 rooms.

Growth in the area was part of what attracted the restaurant, according to the franchisee.

“The community has expanded exponentially over the past five years, and new commercial office space, and residential housing will continue to be added in the foreseeable future," Steak 'n Shake franchisee Dominic Rose said in a statement. "We were also attracted by the hotel element, which will bring new consumers to the site on a daily basis.”

There is only one other Steak 'n Shake in Maryland, and that is in Millersville in Anne Arundel County.
