Support Grows for 'Angel Park' in Perry Hall
The plan is for the park to be built by spring 2015.
The playground and amphitheater project next to Perry Hall Library has gotten support from Baltimore County officials and now, it has received an additional pledge of assistance from a Harford County organization.
The volunteers who built Annie’s Playground in Fallston in 2005 announced that they are pledging financial support and technical assistance for the project in Perry Hall, according to a statement from the Angel Park Committee.
"Annie’s Playground became a symbol of how the community can come together to build a project that touches the lives of thousands of families over the years," Tom Cumpston said at a bull roast Sunday, where he and his wife, Megan, made the announcement. The Cumpstons rallied to build Annie's Playground in Fallston to memorialize their daughter who was killed by a drunk driver.
Angel Park will be a creative playground and amphitheater, built by the community with input from local students, according to a statement from the Angel Park committee.
The Angel Park committee is chaired by Dennis Hoover with support from volunteers including Bill Paulshock and Paul Amirault, the statement said. Andy and Kelli Szczybor, whose son Ryan died from leukemia at 15 months of age, are also volunteering for the project, the statement said.
Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz has pledged the county’s support in design and environmental work, the statement said.
County Councilman David Marks arranged for the land transfer that made the park possible and secured an $80,000 donation from the Baltimore County Savings Bank Foundation, according to the statement.
The goal is for Angel Park to be built by spring 2015.
"This is going to be a truly phenomenal project for Perry Hall,” Paulshock said. "We will continue to update and engage the community as this playground becomes a reality.”
