Traffic Alert: I-695 Closure Planned at I-95

All lanes of Interstate 695 westbound (the outer loop) will be closed after midnight to allow for the transport of heavy equipment, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

From midnight to 4 a.m. on Tuesday, all lanes of I-695 west will be closed at I-95, the authority reports.

Traffic will be detoured onto I-95 north to MD 43 east to MD 7 east to MD 43 west to I-95 south to I-695 west.

Work in the area will realign I-695 from US 1 to MD 7, state transportation authorities report.

The project is part of the Express Toll Lanes initiative, according to the report. Officials anticipate the work will be complete by summer 2016.

I-695 west will reopen at I-95 at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
