Weis Opens In Fullerton Plaza

NOTTINGHAM, MD – Weis Markets opens its newest store Thursday in Fullerton Plaza. The grocery store will welcome its first shoppers at 6 a.m. on Thursday, April 12.

Located on Belair Road, the 67,500-square-foot store has undergone significant renovations. Incorporated into its new design are sustainable measures such as low-flow devices to conserve water, LED lighting, responsive energy controls that reduce usage on peak days, advanced technology that cuts refrigerant use by 60 percent compared with conventional systems and enclosed refrigeration cases to reduce energy use.

“We are very pleased to further expand our service in the Baltimore area, and to anchor and revitalize the Fullerton Plaza shopping center,” Weis Markets CEO Jonathan Weis said in a statement.

To thank the community for its warm welcome, Weis Markets gave $50,000 to the Maryland Food Bank and provided donations to the Rosedale Volunteer Fire Company, Rosedale branch of Baltimore County Public Library, Shady Spring Police Athletic League Center, Overlea-Fullerton Recreation Office and the Parkville High School Marching Band.

Weis in Fullerton Plaza will encompass the following offerings:

• Deli with hot foods bar and hand-rolled sushi
• European flower market with fresh flowers and mix-and-match bouqets
• Meat department with custom-cut certified Angus beef
• Seafood department with sustainably caught fish
• 2,000 organic and gluten-free dairy and grocery items
• Online ordering
• Gas N Go Fuel Center with six pumps

The store employs 140 full and part-time workers. Interested candidates can apply in the store or online.

The Fullerton Plaza store is the 12th market for Weis in Baltimore County; others are in Arbutus, Dundalk, Essex, Middle River, Owings Mills, Parkville, Perry Hall, Reisterstown, Towson and Windsor Mill. It will be the 52nd Weis in Maryland.

Weis is based in Sunbury, Pennsylvania. The company began in 1912 and has grown in recent years due to the acquisition of other stores, such as those operating under the Mars banner. It has more than 200 stores in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
