Akehurst Landscaping Owner Passes Away at 47

The Perry Hall native owned a longstanding family business in Joppa.

Brian Edward Akehurst of Streetย passed unexpectedly on July 6, according to his obituary.ย He was 47.

Akehurst grew up in Perry Hall and went to Eastern Vo Tech, graduating in 1984.ย 

He was a fifth generation ownerย of Akehurst Landscape Service, according toย Lawn and Landscapeย magazine, which reported Brian Akehurstย had been the CEO of the Joppa-based company since 2005.

"Brian was a quiet man of God with great faith and a servantโ€™s heart," according to a statement on the Akehurst Landscape Service website. "He was a passionate fisherman and an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Brianโ€™s death was both sudden and untimely."

Akehurstย is survived by his wife, three children and many other loving family members, listed in his obituary.

Visitation is Thursday, July 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Evans Funeral Chapel, 3 Newport Drive, inย Forest Hill.

The funeral service is Friday, July 11, at 10 a.m. atย Central Christian, 7411 Rossville Boulevard, in Rosedale. There will be a brief viewing before the service at 9 a.m.

Interment will be at Camp Chapel United Methodist Church,ย 5000 East Joppa Road, in Perry Hall.

A scholarship fund is beingย set up for Akehurst's children through M&T Bank.
