BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.
County, state and federal offices will be closed in observance of the holiday, while retail stores and most other businesses will be open. Trash pickup will continue as normally scheduled.

There will be a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Baltimore City from noon to 4 p.m. at 830 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. The family friendly event includes cultural performances, crafts and more.
The city's 17th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade starts at noon at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street, proceeds south on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and ends at Baltimore Street. Konan of 92Q's “The Ko Show” and Magic 95.9 FM's April Watts will emcee the event, whose grand marshal is Baltimore native Brave Williams, a singer/songwriter cast as a lead singer on the MTV reality show P. Diddy’s Making The Band.
