White Marsh Hazmat Situation May Be Tied To Theft: Officials

​A suspicious van that may have been connected to a theft brought together emergency personnel Monday evening in White Marsh.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Emergency personnel converged in White Marsh Monday evening after what authorities said was a "report of a suspicious van." The van drew the Baltimore County Fire Department and Maryland Department of the Environment to the scene, where fire officials said they found hazardous materials.

The van was carrying 660 gallons of fuel on Ebenezer Road at Pulaski Highway, according to fire officials. No explosives were found, authorities reported.

By 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, the fire department reported its crews were leaving, while state environmental personnel remained.

The Maryland Department of the Environment was on-site at the Royal Farms off Route 40 at Ebenezer Road with a van after 7 p.m., according to WJZ.

Earlier in the day, part of downtown Baltimore was evacuated around Pratt Street due to what police later said was a van carrying what appeared to be stolen fuel. It was unclear whether they were related.
