BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A policeman based out of the White Marsh precinct is facing criminal charges after an argument in Sparrows Point that began over a domestic issue, according to authorities, who said he has been suspended without pay as the case works its way through the judicial system.

Frank Wilcox, 35, of the 900 block of Martin Road in Essex, is charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree assault, court records show. He is a 17-year veteran of the Baltimore County Police Department, officials said.

Police allege Wilcox forced his way inside a home in the 7400 block of Blevins Avenue, then pushed someone, who fell to the ground, following an argument he initiated with the homeowners regarding a domestic issue. The incident occurred before 1 a.m. Monday, officials reported, and witnesses removed Wilcox from the home prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Police said Wilcox turned himself in to authorities while they were investigating the case.

"The officers of the Baltimore County Police Department are obligated to not only enforce the law but to uphold the law in both their professional and personal lives," Baltimore County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Shawn Vinson said in a statement.

"The allegations that have been made in this case are serious and very concerning," Vinson said. "They are not representative of the values and ethics of the many officers and professional staff of the Baltimore County Police Department who dedicate their lives to ensuring the safety of others."
