Because the old firehouse was in a floodplain on Ebenezer Road, it could not be expanded or rebuilt, so in 2012 the fire company formed a committee to evaluate the options for what to do next. In 2013, it reached out General Motors, which donated more than 6 acres on Philadelphia Road to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company in 2016 for its new location. Construction got underway in 2017 and was recently completed.

"It's official...we've moved!" the fire company reported on Friday, Sept. 28. "We're now responding from our new station..."

The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company will host a ribbon cutting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 10331 Philadelphia Road in White Marsh. There will be an open house so community members can take tours. Parking is on the General Motors lot.
