Worker Freed After Becoming Trapped In Sand Hopper At Baltimore County Facility
The rescue was carried out Friday after a worker became trapped at a facility in Cockeysville, officials said.
COCKEYSVILLE, MD — Fire crews successfully rescued a man after he became trapped in a sand hopper at a Baltimore County facility on Friday, fire officials said.
Shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, the Baltimore County Fire Department said crews responded to the 10800 block of Beaver Dam Road in Cockeysville after a worker became trapped waist-deep inside the hopper.
The incident prompted crews to initiate a technical rescue to free the worker, who officials said was located 75 feet off the ground.

A medevac helicopter and the department’s Special Tactical Command Go-Team were requested to the scene, officials said. The Baltimore City Fire Department also assisted.
Shortly before 3:30 p.m., officials said crews successfully extricated the worker, who was conscious during the process. He was treated by a physician at the scene.
