In her crumbling mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded silent-screen goddess Norma Desmond lives trapped in a fantasy world of former glory — her glamour intact only in her own mind, having been discarded by Hollywood with the advent of “talkies.”
When impoverished screenwriter Joe Gillis stumbles into her reclusive domain while fleeing debt collectors, he is persuaded to work on her "masterpiece" — a script she believes will return her to the big screen.
