Cecil County Government: Cecil County Novel Coronavirus Updates - February 24, 2021

Since February 17, 2021, there have been 59 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County and 2 COVID-19-related deaths.

Elkton, MD- Since February 17, 2021, there have been 59 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County and 2 COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County. Additionally, there have been 88 cases released from isolation.

Since March, 2020, as reported by the Cecil County Health Department, there have been 5,045 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County, and 4,598 of those confirmed cases have been released from isolation. There have been 119 COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County. Cecil County’s seven-day positivity rate is 3.3%.

COVID-19 continues to be a community-spread pandemic. Please remain vigilant and safe in your day-to-day activities, refrain from gathering in large groups, wear a mask in public places, practice social distancing, wash your hands often, and sanitize frequently touched surfaces.

Cecil County Health Department

The Cecil County Health Department will hold free COVID-19 testing events for the public on:

  • Mondays, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.
  • Wednesdays, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.
  • Fridays, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.

Appointments are required. Please Call 410-996-1005 or go to the online scheduler to make an appointment: https://covidtesting.pattrac.app/cecil.

Please bring ID. You do not need a doctor’s note or symptoms to get tested.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Cecil County is currently in Phase 1 of COVID-19 vaccine distribution. Governor Hogan has ordered state health departments to prioritize adults age 65+ in vaccine distribution.

The Cecil County Health Department is prescreening individuals for eligibility prior to booking vaccine clinic appointments. This will assist them in planning for clinics going forward. Kindly follow the below link to complete your screening.

COVID-19 vaccine allotments remain limited throughout Maryland. Appointment scheduling may be delayed due to the limited number of vaccines available. Please remain patient as the Cecil County Health Department's vaccine allocation fluctuates as the result of distribution across the state. As of 2/24/2021, the Cecil County Health Department is receiving 900 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine per week.

• 2nd dose = 5,289 (5.1% of population)

RELIEF Act

Last week, the RELIEF Act of 2021 was signed into law by Governor Hogan. It provides direct stimulus payments to qualifying Marylanders, unemployment insurance grants to qualifying Marylanders, and grants and loans to qualifying small businesses. Cecil County Board of Elections

The Cecil County Board of Elections started their manual audit of the 2020 Presidential General Election on February 24, 2021. This audit may take more than one day to complete and will continue daily until finished. The audit will take place at the Cecil County Administration Building located at 200 Chesapeake Boulevard, Elkton MD.

Cecil County Government
Cecil County Government (CCG) remains committed to protecting the health and welfare of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining essential, core services to the constituents of Cecil County. To safely and incrementally move County operations forward, CCG will reopen County work sites to the public, by appointment only, for essential County business. Therefore, the following protocol is effective beginning June 8, 2020, until further notice:

  • Public access to County work sites is limited to appointment only, with as much business as possible being conducted electronically or by telephone.
  • All Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division facilities are open for normal operations. This includes the Central Landfill, Woodlawn, and Stemmers Run Transfer Stations.
