Elkton, MD- Since March 3, 2021, there have been 54 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County and 1 COVID-19-related death in Cecil County. Additionally, there have been 55 cases released from isolation.

Since March, 2020, as reported by the Cecil County Health Department, there have been 5,153 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cecil County, and 4,700 of those confirmed cases have been released from isolation. There have been 123 COVID-19-related deaths in Cecil County. Cecil County’s seven-day positivity rate is 3.5%.

COVID-19 continues to be a community-spread pandemic. Please remain vigilant and safe in your day-to-day activities, refrain from gathering in large groups, wear a mask in public places, practice social distancing, wash your hands often, and sanitize frequently touched surfaces.

Cecil County Health Department

The Cecil County Health Department will hold free COVID-19 testing events for the public on:

  • Mondays in March, from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.
  • Wednesdays in March, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m., 100 Chesapeake Blvd, Elkton MD.

Appointments are required. Please Call 410-996-1005 or go to the online scheduler to make an appointment: https://covidtesting.pattrac.app/cecil.

Please bring ID. You do not need a doctor’s note or symptoms to get tested.

COVID-19 Vaccine

Cecil County is currently in Phase 1 of COVID-19 vaccine distribution. The Cecil County Health Department has sent vaccine clinic registration links to all individuals ages 65+ who live or work in Cecil County, completed the eligibility prescreening form, and provided an email address. They are currently working through their call only list. Over half of all Cecil County residents age 65+ have now been vaccinated.

The Cecil County Health Department is prescreening individuals for eligibility prior to booking vaccine clinic appointments. This will assist them in planning for clinics going forward. Kindly follow the below link to complete your screening.

COVID-19 vaccine allotments remain limited throughout Maryland. Appointment scheduling may be delayed due to the limited number of vaccines available. Please remain patient as the Cecil County Health Department's vaccine allocation fluctuates as the result of distribution across the state.

• 2nd dose = 8,872 (8.63% of population)

Reopening Update:

Yesterday, Governor Hogan announced that on March 12 at 5 PM, capacity limits will be lifted on outdoor and indoor dining at restaurants and food service establishments, retail businesses, religious facilities, fitness centers, casinos, personal services, and indoor recreational establishments. Bars and restaurants will be open for seated and distanced service only. Larger outdoor and indoor venues may begin operating at 50% capacity. Maryland’s statewide masking order remains in effect.     • Food Referrals:  due to the coronavirus, public access to the building is restricted; however you may still receive a referral for food by calling Nicole at 443-986-3548, from 8:am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.  Emergency food referrals will be available for pick up at the Help Center from 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday.

Cecil County Government
Cecil County Government (CCG) remains committed to protecting the health and welfare of its employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining essential, core services to the constituents of Cecil County. To safely and incrementally move County operations forward, CCG will reopen County work sites to the public, by appointment only, for essential County business. Therefore, the following protocol is effective beginning June 8, 2020, until further notice:

  • Public access to County work sites is limited to appointment only, with as much business as possible being conducted electronically or by telephone.

To maximize social distancing, employees in telework-eligible positions are to continue to work remotely as much as possible. Employees in non-telework eligible positions will report to the work site. All employees at work sites are to follow health and safety protocols for COVID-19.

The vestibule at the Administration Building remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, to allow for drop-off and pick-ups for Permits, Finance, Housing, Purchasing, Land Use, and Public Works. Please make sure your documents are clearly marked with name/organization and contact information.

  • All Cecil County Solid Waste Management Division facilities are open for normal operations. This includes the Central Landfill, Woodlawn, and Stemmers Run Transfer Stations.

In addition, citizens are reminded that they can access the www.ccgov.org website and follow us on social media to obtain further information and direction on items of interest. 

In early March 2020, the Cecil County COVID-19 Joint Information Center (JIC) was formed as a means to provide consolidated and thorough information to the citizens of Cecil County. The JIC is comprised of more than 30 public information officials and communication leads for agencies throughout the county.
