Cecil County Government: County Council Seeks Redistricting Commission Member

The Republican and Democratic Central Committees will be submitting five nominations for the commission, each representing a district.

The Republican and Democratic Central Committees will be submitting five nominations for the commission, each representing a councilmanic district. The Council’s appointment and appointments from the central committees will comprise eleven members of the commission. Persons who hold elected office are not eligible for appointment. The Council will also appoint the chairman of the commission.

The Redistricting Commission must present a plan of residency districts to the County Council. The Council has thirty days to hold a public hearing on the plan. If within ninety days after submission of the plan, no other legislation reestablishing the boundaries of the residency districts has been enacted, the plan as submitted shall become law.
