Cecil County is under a winter weather advisory until 8 a.m. Tuesday for snow, sleet and freezing rain, which coupled with below-freezing temperatures, could create icy road conditions.

Officials advised using extra caution on the roads.

“What looks wet may be ice,” the Maryland Transportation Authority reported Tuesday morning.

The State Highway Administration (SHA) encouraged drivers to heed speed limits, which are in place for ideal weather conditions.

“SHA asks motorists to drive at the appropriate speed for the conditions this morning and delay travel if warranted,” SHA Administrator Melinda B. Peters said Tuesday morning. “Based upon the storm’s path overnight and this morning, road conditions could change dramatically as you travel, so please use caution.”
