Rising Sun
Calvert Road at Cedar Farm Lane. Two students from Rising Sun High School were injured May 9 in a single-vehicle crash on their way to school. The driver, a 17-year-old from Rising Sun, was headed eastbound on Calvert Road around 7:40 a.m. when he lost control of his vehicle. The 1991 Ford F-150 crossed the yellow line, drifted into the westbound lane and went off the roadway, hitting a mailbox, tree and utility pole. A 16-year-old boy from Port Deposit was in the passenger seat. Both were taken to Christiana Hospital in Newark for injuries and were released later that day. Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, according to officials, who said charges have not been filed.
