Jerry Seinfeld Weighs in on Naked Fight Among Clothiers

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld has a few thoughts about the ongoing battle between Hampstead-based Jos. A Bank Clothiers, which tried to buy its competitor, Men’s Wearhouse Inc.

Then the reverse happened with Men’s Wearhouse trying to buy Bank. Jos. A. Bank leaders are so opposed to a takeover by Men's Wearhouse that they may have made an offer for casual clothing and outerwear chain Eddie Bauer, according to The Baltimore Sun.

During a CBS interview this week, Seinfeld recalled the longtime TV tagline from the Men's Wearhouse commercials: "You're going to like the way you look. I guarantee it."

And he took pokes at both chains.

"Jos. A. Bank - could they advertise more? Could they sell less?" the “Seinfeld” star said on BuzzFeed Brews on CBS This Morning. "They're just like, 'We’ll give you three suits for $8. We’ll give you… Just take it, and get it out of here.'"

Men’s Wearhouse, the bigger of the two rivals, also received a few jabs. 

"So now Men's Wearhouse is saying, 'We want more of this crap. We don’t have enough of our own crap. We want your crap too,'" Seinfeld told the interviewer. "More clothes nobody wants, nobody will buy. There's no price low enough. There's no sale big enough.”
