Maryland Drivers Advised to Plan Ahead for Slush and Snow

With snow in the forecast Monday for much of Maryland, the State Highway Administration encouraged drivers to plan ahead for the morning commute.

Most of the Baltimore-Washington metro area will receive at least two inches of snow Monday, according National Weather Service, which reported the snowfall would be heaviest in the morning and taper off by mid afternoon.

Since snow projections were varied, the State Highway Administration said that Monday's commute could either be a "slushy mess" or involve roads covered in "more significant accumulations." 

To prepare for whatever the elements deliver, the State Highway Administration said it would be sending crews out around midnight. It advised drivers to plan ahead as well, allowing extra time or not traveling, if possible.

"...with the changeover from rain to snow in the metro areas apparently to occur near Monday rush hour, motorists are strongly encouraged to plan make plans to avoid or delay travel if conditions worsen," the State Highway Administration said in a statement Sunday afternoon.
