Mustang Show In Perryville Highlights Cecil Public Library Calendar

Check out the full September calendar of events for Cecil County Public Libraries.

The Perryville branch of the Cecil COunty Public Library will host a Ford Mustang car show on Sept. 7, one of the many events the libraries will present in September.

The Mustang show will begin at 10 a.m. on Sept. 7, featuring many 1960s models of the popular vehicle.

Muscle Car: A History of the Ford Mustangs of the 1960s, 7 PM at Perryville Branch. The Ford Mustang first appeared in 1964, and had one of the most successful product launches in automotive history. Two members of the Mustang Club of Maryland will tell us how the concept became a reality, and will describe the various models of the 1960s.

Vietnam Mailbag, 7 PM at Rising Sun Branch. A multimedia program by journalist Nancy Lynch and Vietnam Veteran Rick Lovekin, who frequently corresponded with Lynch. From 1968-1972, Lynch ran a column in the Wilmington News Journal called "Vietnam Mailbag." In 2008 she published a book of the letters. Lynch will share corespondences from local soldiers in Delaware and Cecil County.

Widening the C&D Canal in the 1960s - Positive and Negative Impacts, 6:30 PM at Chesapeake City Branch. From its opening in 1829, the canal has greatly impacted the town. Through the years there have been peaks of success and valleys of trials in the economic and cultural status of Chesapeake City. The program will cover the positive and negative impacts that the widening of the C&D Canal in the 1960s had on the town and surrounding area. Registration is required.
