One Cecil County School Closes Early On First Day

A school in North East dismissed ahead of schedule on Tuesday, Cecil County Public Schools reported.

NORTH EAST, MD — One school in Cecil County closed early on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Authorities announced that Bay View Elementary School dismissed students at 10:30 a.m.

The school experienced a power outage, according to school officials.

The outage came as Cecil County was headed into a heat advisory period from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with temps expected to reach 105 degrees on the heat index.

Due to the heat, 10 schools were closed in Baltimore County Tuesday for the first day of school since they lack air-conditioning; and more than 60 Baltimore City schools are dismissing early because of the heat as well.
