Perryville Electrical Student Has the Hookup

For his masterful abilities in electrical wiring, Perryville senior Jake Ritter will head to Kansas City, MO, this summer to compete in the SkillsUSA competition, the Cecil Whig reported.

SkillsUSA is a program that spotlights students who excel in hands-on trade, technical or leadership activities. Its annual conference brings together more than 5,600 students who have placed first at the state level competing in categories from cosmetology to firefighting.

Ritter, who is senior at Perryville High School, has been practicing electrical wiring through Cecil County School of Technology. His practice paid off when he placed first in the Maryland SkillsUSA competition on April 20, the Cecil Whig reported.

For his win at the state level, Ritter has been awarded a full scholarship to Independent Electronic Contractors Chesapeake School for the 2013–14 school year, according to The Whig.

Next, Ritter will attend the national SkillsUSA competition from June 25 to 28 in Kansas City, MO.
