Panthers Girls Lacrosse Remains Undefeated

With one game left in the regular season, Perryville girls lacrosse is undefeated.

After traveling to Edgewood Thursday and clinching a win over the Rams, the Lady Panthers have a 6-0 record.

"With a season of perfection on the line, the Panthers (5-0) knew the game would be hard," said Mary Dunman, head girls lacrosse coach at Perryville High School. "Edgewood (4-1) came out to take that perfection away."

During the first half against Edgewood, "Perryville came out strong...controlling Edgewood's drives to the goal," Dunman said.

During the second half, the Rams starting putting points on the board.

"With nine minutes left, Edgewood pressured with a three-goal run," Dunman said. "With only 28 seconds left in the game, it came down to the last draw, where Morgan Peschek of Perryville came up with the ball and held onto it for the win."

The final score was 13-12, Panthers.

Leah Ports led Perryville in scoring, Dunman said, with five goals and one assist. Taylor Poore had four goals and two assists; Hannah Wein had two goals and two assists; and Alex McCann and Merve Akbay had one goal apiece, according to Dunman.

In their final matchup of the regular season, the Perryville Panthers will face off against the Harford Tech Cobras. The game will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, at Perryville High School.
