"It's a chance to give back to the community," Fox said as to why he ran again. "It's a chance to work toward things you think would make the town better."
One thing Fox thinks would make the town better is business.
"The old part of town in Perryville has fallen on hard times," Fox said. "What used to be the old commercial district is vacant. We need to get something there."
Linkey, who ran alongside Fox—they shared a tent at the Perryville Spring Fling in a show of support for one another—said she looks forward to working together to revitalize downtown.
"It’s not a single effort," Linkey said of individuals working for change in Perryville.
"Perryville is going in the right direction—we have our parks, we are trying to improve some of those parks, and make it more business friendly," Linkey said.
"We are trying to move forward and bring back some businesses," she continued. "I think the pier and Rodgers Tavern can be a piece of that....Hopefully, the economy will turn around and we can start pulling things together."
It is up to the mayor which commissioners' seats Fox and Linkey fill. Fox noted he would hope for planning and zoning. Linkey said that she hopes to continue on with public works.
Linkey and Fox will serve two-year terms on the commission. Two other seats will be up for a vote next year.
