Perryville Under Flood Advisory Friday

UPDATE (12:30 p.m.)—As Tropical Storm Andrea nears the coast of the mid-Atlantic, the National Weather Service warned Cecil County residents to start preparing for the heavy rain and hazardous conditions expected through late Friday evening.

A flood advisory is in effect for Perryville and northeast Maryland, effective through 2 p.m. Friday. During a flood advisory, ponding and the rising of water above its banks is imminent or occurring.

Some areas could see 2 to 3 inches of rain Friday, according to NWS projections, with up to 5 inches possible.

Runoff from the rain may lead to flash floods around small streams or low-lying and coastal areas.
