Police Identify Body Found Behind Port Deposit Royal Farms

The North Carolina man died of natural causes Aug. 11, according to the Cecil County Sheriff's Office.

A North Carolina man whose body was found behind the Port Deposit Royal Farms over the weekend died of natural causes, the Cecil County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Robert Martin Gavin Jr., 47, of Rocky Mount, NC, was found in a grassy area behind the convenience store on Jacob Tome Highway Sunday at approximately 10:55 a.m., Lt. Michael Holmes of the sheriff's office said.

Surveillance footage showed Gavin getting out of his vehicle and walking to the back of the store, according to CecilDaily.com, which reported his body was discovered by passersby.

"After consulting with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, it has been determined that Mr. Gavin died from natural causes," Holmes said Thursday.

Gavin was a machine operator in Elm, NC, according to his obituary. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, in Parkesburg, PA.
