Local resident was recognized for his academic achievements at his recent graduation from Universal Technical Institute

Townsend native, Larry Shorb, was recognized for his academic achievements at his recent graduation from Universal Technical Institute (NYSE: UTI) in Exton, PA, the leading provider of post-secondary education for students seeking careers as professional automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians.

Shorb graduated from UTI’s Automotive, Diesel and Industrial Technology Program with a 3.96 GPA and 96.99% attendance. He received 4 “Student of the Course” awards (earning the highest grade of the course), as well as 17 Directors List Awards and was nominated into the Alpha Beta Kappa Honor Society. Upon graduation, he will be continuing his education in UTI’s elite Peterbilt program.

“Our students take their training very seriously,” says Bob Kessler, campus president of UTI-Exton. “Often there are many sacrifices that have to be made in order to pursue their technical program. There is work, life, and school balance that must be maintained in order to successfully complete their studies at UTI. Our students are mechanically minded, action-oriented experts who are fluent in technology, and geniuses at fixing things and solving problems. As automotive technicians who keep our cars running smoothly and our transportation infrastructure strong, they are the backbone of America, and they deserve every opportunity to succeed and pursue a career that makes them happy. At UTI, we’re for every student having the chance to chart their own path to success and we give students an education that sets them up for rewarding, life-long careers.”
