CECIL COUNTY, MD — Cecil County Public Schools will be closed for students on Wednesday, Feb. 7, school officials announced Wednesday morning.

While students should not report, school offices will open at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, according to Cecil County Public Schools.

The announcement of the school closures came as Cecil County is under a winter weather advisory for a mix of precipitation that could cause treacherous travel conditions. The winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

Snow, sleet and freezing rain are expected, with up to 0.5 inch of snow and sleet plus a glaze of ice, according to the National Weather Service.

Sleet and freezing rain during the morning commute is expected to transition to rain as temperatures rise between 8 and 10 a.m., weather officials say.
