Weather Decision From Cecil County Public Schools For Jan. 18
BREAKING: Students in Cecil County Public Schools will be on a modified schedule on Friday, Jan. 18, due to the forecast.

CECIL COUNTY, MD — School will start later than usual for students in Cecil County on Friday, Jan. 18. Authorities made the announcement Thursday afternoon and cited the forecast for inclement weather Thursday night into tomorrow morning.
The National Weather Service is calling for about an inch of snow in Cecil County by Friday morning.
Schools will open two hours late on Friday, Jan. 18, according to a statement from Cecil County Public Schools.

This will be the modified pre-K and preschool schedule in effect on Friday, officials said:
- Morning Session: 11 a.m.-12:50 p.m.
- Afternoon Session: 1:50 p.m.-3:30 p.m. (may vary slightly by school)
Precipitation is expected to be light before Friday, but the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Cecil County as well as parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware that predicts the following for the weekend:

"A significant storm system will affect the area Saturday through Sunday with snow, mixed precipitation, and heavy rain. Snow will develop Saturday afternoon with some accumulation possible before a change to heavy rain from south to north Saturday night. There may also be a period of freezing rain and sleet during this transition. The rain could be heavy enough to lead to urban and small stream flooding issues Saturday night into early Sunday with river flooding possible by late day Sunday."

Thursday: A slight chance of snow in the afternoon, increasing to 80% chance of snow at night. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. High near 33 and low of 33 degrees. Southeast wind around 7 mph.
Friday: A chance of rain and snow before 7 a.m., then a slight chance of rain showers between 7 and 8 a.m. High near 43 and low of 30 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Saturday: A chance of snow between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., then rain and snow likely. High near 37 and low of 36 degrees. New snow accumulation of less than 1 inch is possible during the day, but 1 to 2 inches of snow are possible after 8 p.m.
Sunday: Rain before 1 p.m., then a chance of snow. High near 43 and low around 10 degrees. Breezy during the day and blustery at night. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
M.L.King Day: Sunny, with a high near 16 and a low around 10 degrees.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 29 and low of 26 degrees. There is a 30% chance of snow at night.
Wednesday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44 and low of 34. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Thursday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41.
