PIKESVILLE, MD — Baltimore County police are calling on the public's help as authorities search for a driver tied to a deadly hit-and-run case.
A release issued by the Baltimore County Police Department on Friday identified 64-year-old Melissa Nocho as the pedestrian who suffered fatal injuries when she was hit by a black Hyundai Elantra.
The department said the incident occurred in the 1700 block of Reisterstown Road, with officers responding shortly after 9 p.m. on Sept. 24.
Nocho had been hospitalized after suffering life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead Sept. 30.
Relatives told WBAL that Nocho was hit as she was heading back home after making a stop at the nearby Target retailer.
"She had to cross a busy street on Reisterstown Road, (and) unfortunately, there was a car that was going very, very fast and it hit her and she flew 6 feet in the air," Zariah Lewis, one of Nocho's nieces, told the outlet.
"(It's) disgusting, honestly; I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy."
Police have issued a $2,000 cash reward for tips that lead to an arrest and charges. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or its driver is asked to contact detectives at (410) 887-4636. See flyer released by police.
