A Girls' Afternoon Getaway

Ladies, do lunch at Noodles & Company, a healthy hotspot where you can escape to catch up and recharge.

, affectionately known as "Noodles," has given new meaning to the phrase “Let's do lunch." From the outside, Noodles looks like just another fast food spot—stand in line, order, pay and leave.

But a deeper observation uncovers one of the best-kept secrets for an afternoon out with the girls. This gem of a bistro serves healthy noodles, pasta, soups and sandwiches that will have you ordering one of everything on the menu. Noodles is one of the only restaurants that includes tofu on its list of ingredients—yes! Noodles has items for vegetarians, vegans and those who are watching their sodium intake. The food is healthy, nutritious and delicious.

One day while I ran errands in Pikesville, I chose Noodles & Company, at 3755 Old Court Road, for lunch. It was delicious as always.

My favorite dish is pesto cavatappi with tofu. I also add a side cucumber tomato salad and to quench my thirst a refreshing iced tea. While waiting for my order, I noticed some ladies having lunch and playing a board game. This wasn’t the first time I had noticed the girls getting away—but certainly the first time that I really paid attention to what they were doing.

I thought, “Wow! This is a great spot to hang out after the lunch crowd. It’s quiet and you can sit and talk, read or play a game.”

What’s even better? You and the girls can make a date to eat lunch at the Towson Noodles & Company, 825 Goucher Blvd., and relax for a bit before heading over to for an afternoon of shopping at . There is nothing like catching up with girlfriends over great lunch and a new dress!

Don’t forget to take your iPad, Kindle or nook. You can read a few of the books you’ve downloaded and have a mini-book club discussion!
