BITES NEARBY: Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet

—Here's a real deal for lunch weekdays and Saturday: $6.49 for a buffet of salad, seafoods, desserts, create-it-yourself hibachi stir-fry, Chinese dishes, sushi and ice cream.

It's all at Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet, 8606 Liberty Road, Randallstown, "the" newest restaurant in town, and it's getting a lot of business.

At Hibachi, there's a plethora of shrimp dishes. Among the numerous buffet services, you'll find shrimp: steamed and chilled with cocktail sauce, pepper shrimp, fried, stuffed, stir-fry and sweet and sour and more.

Of course, the same goes for the chicken. There's General Tso's, sesame chicken, stir-fry and pepper chicken, among others.

But you don't have to go straight protein and carbs. There are also vegan, vegetarian and other low-calorie options as well. 

I went last week and got a salad of wild field greens, red grapes, strawberries and cantaloupe to accompany the shrimp and chicken I selected.

For lunch, it's OK to go alone. But at dinner, it's best to bring a group so you can get a good table.

Here are four things to know before you visit:

1. There are two lines to wait in before you're seated. First, there's the line to pay—a line that was lengthy, but quick-moving when I went during dinnertime. Next, you must wait in another line to be seated. There is a comfortable and large sofa in the lobby, where the weary in your party can wait while you keep your place in line.

2. Knives are located at the middle of the hibachi grill. Your napkin-wrapped silverware does not come with this item, so you have to get it yourself. The good news: They are steak knives.

3. It's a pay-first situation, and that can include the tip. If you pay the tip up front on your credit or debit card, you'll get cash back so you can leave it on the table.

4. Come when you're in the mood to occasionally wait in the buffet line to get the dish you want, while others take their turn.

Take-out: It's not all about the sit-down. You can also get buffets to go, at $3.99 per pound with no seafood; $4.99 per pound with half of it seafood, and $5.99 per pound for all seafood. 

I haven't ordered takeout, so I'm not sure how this process works, or how they tell if you have only half seafood. Readers, if you find out, let us know in the comments box below.
