'Captain America' Hits Local Screens

If the heat wave has prompted you to seek refuge at your neighborhood movie theater, you might want to venture into nostalgia with your choice.

One of the great World War II comic book heroes debuts for the first time on big screen this weekend.

“Captain America: The First Avenger” (PG-13) is the tale of an ordinary soldier who volunteers for a program designed to create the ultimate fighting man, according to the AMC Owings Mills website.

This weekend, AMC Owings Mills 17 is giving moviegoers a chance to see "Captain America" in both 3D and 2D, opening the film on three screens.

Harry Potter fans who waited a week to avoid opening weekend’s crush last week can chose from the final battle in 3D (on two screens) or regular 2D (also on two screens).

For the youngest movie-goers, there’s “Winnie the Pooh” and "Cars 2," both G.

Other films on two screens are "Transformers: Dark of the Moon," PG-13, both 3D and 2D; “Horrible Bosses” and the romantic comedy “Friends With Benefits,” both rated R.
