Time for the kids to develop new powers. Superpowers, even. On Thursday, the invites children ages 11–17 to learn to draw their own superhero and develop a comic book with a storyline, main character and background. Do a little ooooh-ing and aaaaaah-ing at our big, amazing universe this Friday at the Maryland Science Center. “Stargazing Fridays” allow visitors to use outdoor telescopes to get a better look at the moon, planets and other stars. Remember to dress warmly. “Stargazing Fridays” run from 5:30–9 p.m. There is no charge, but admission to the Science Center itself requires a fee. Pam the Kindersinger will be the celebrity of the hour at the Towson Branch Library on Saturday. Bring the kids and celebrate winter with music, humor, fun and ventriloquism. It’s at the Irvine Nature Center this Sunday. Take a stroll through the woods and learn how to tap for natural maple sap, then convert the sticky stuff to yummy syrup using the Nature Center’s enormous evaporator. Begins at 1 p.m. Open to all ages. Cost: Free for members/$10 non-members. The Nature Center is located at 11201 Garrison Forest Road, Owings Mills.
