Levindale Art Show Captures Imaginations and Hearts

What do birds, rainbows, boats and flowers have in common with Levindale? You're about to find out.

Move over Picasso and Renoir! Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital recently held an art show with some amazing talent.

More than 25 Levindale residents, patients and participants from long-term care, the specialty hospital and the partial hospitalization program created masterpieces with their paint brushes and quilting needles.

In groups and individually, the Levindale artists started working on their designs about a year earlier and were thrilled to see their creations displayed in the Levindale town center.

Pets, people, flowers, homes and boats were just some of the subjects of the painted artwork. A stunning quilt was also handcrafted and included rainbows, trees and birds. The colors in all of the projects were vibrant and varied.

Music was played during the Levindale show to highlight that art can come in many forms. Visitors were also invited to take part by giving their opinions about the definition of art.

Two Levindale residents provided designs from their personal collections. Kim Taylor shared her beautiful and unique paper sculptures, and Beverly Polt shared some of her oil paintings.

None of this could have been done without the hard work and dedication of Levindale recreation assistants Jessica Simms and Christine Burch who helped the artists with their works, organized the show and put together the displays.

Additionally, Kelsey Walsh, a MICA community art graduate student, was extremely instrumental in assisting everyone with their projects. She even used some of Levindale’s work in her own art show at MICA.

Levindale is part of LifeBridge Health, one of the largest, most comprehensive health providers in Maryland. In addition to Levindale, LifeBridge Health includes Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
