Mark Your Calendars for the 2014 Reistertown Festival

Labor Day doesn't mark the end of summer in Reistertown. Find details for the festival here.

Summer lasts a week longer in Reistertown, where Labor Day does not mean the season is over.

The annual Reistertown Festival takes place on Sept. 6 and 7 at Hannah More Park, 12035 Reistertown Road.

Festivities kick off with the parade down Main Street at 9 a.m. on Saturday, The Baltimore Sun reports. The community will nominate and vote for the parade’s grand marshal.

The voting process “keeps the community engaged and excited about the festival,” Sherri Brogan, co-chairwoman of the event told the news outlet.

Festival-goers can also expect to see a car show, motorcycle show, bicycle stunt shows and fireworks on Saturday night.

Live music acts include the Groove Squad, Anthony “Swamp Dog” Clark, Dawgone, Cris Jacobs Band, Wylde Fire, Carey Ziegler’s Expensive Hobby, Ocho de Bastos, Leftstronger and Dean Crawford and the Dunn’s River Band.

“We have lots of kids’ activities and it’s all free,” Brogan said. “We do everything we can do to make it fun for all ages.”

The children’s area opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Activities for children include Kenpo Karate demonstrations and magic shows by Mike Prello the magician.

The International Beer Garden will return this year, according to The Baltimore Sun. But this year, there will also be an eight-foot television screen in a tent on Sunday so festival-goers can watch the first Baltimore Ravens game together.

The festival is free for attendees and is organized by the Reistertown Recreation Council, a nonprofit volunteer group
