Northwest Hospital Has Over 100,000 Reasons to Thank MCVcares!

Whoever says you can't have it all doesn't know Motorcycle Club Five. The bikers have fun while raising money...all for a good cause.

Classic movies like Easy Rider and The Wild One tell stories involving motorcycle riders. Motorcycle Club Five and its charity arm MCVcares, are not part of a movie, but their real life story is truly meaningful and significant. It includes playing hard, working hard and donating $100,020 to help breast cancer survivors at the Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center at Northwest Hospital.

The fourth sequel of the MCVcares story was set in the Northwest lobby on a recent Saturday morning when it became a motorcycle club hangout. About 30 Motorcycle Club Five members and their significant others went to the hospital to present a large check to donate a large amount of money to financially and emotionally help those in need.

This was the fourth year in row that the club donated $25,005 to the Samuelson Breast Care Center…bringing the total to an unbelievable $100,020!!! (The extra $5 a year is a fun play on the name Motorcycle Club Five.) The funds are used help patients with breast reconstruction, and for prevention programs and screenings.

Motorcycle Club Five President Kevin "K2" Mercer, Consigliere Neil "Carver" Levy, and past President Art (Tee) Eanet, were among the many bikers and their significant others who gathered for the check presentation. They raise the funds by organizing and hosting events throughout the year.

Faraaz Yousuf, the Northwest Hospital president and COO, and Dr. Corinne Costellic, the breast care center medical director, both spoke…not only thanking the group profusely for the remarkable generosity of their time, efforts and funding but explaining how they are really changing and bettering the lives of individuals going through some of the most serious, scary times in their lives.
