One Woman's Forty Years of Service at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital

The Levindale Service Awards ceremony honors employees for their dedication to residents and patients.

Connie Bracy began working at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital in 1975. She was there for a year before Apple Computer was even founded, Hank Aaron retired from baseball, and Charlie’s Angels premiered on television because none of those things happened until 1976!

On a recent Wednesday evening, Connie and 80 of her colleagues were recognized at the 2015 Levindale Employee Service Awards. The celebration was held at Martin’s West to thank them for their continuing hard work and dedication to residents, patients, their families and the organization.

Connie was the only person to be acknowledged at this year’s ceremony for an amazing 40 year career there.

Connie’s work at Levindale began as a summer job while she was still in school. Her mother, who also worked there at the time, put in a good word for her daughter. Connie started in the Food and Nutrition department and is still there today. During her four decades, she has held every job in the kitchen except cook and has branched out to the administrative area of the department where she currently works as an administrative assistant.

“I especially love my co-workers at Levindale. We are team and work very hard to serve good meals to everyone,” says Connie. “I have also learned many things over the years including how to use a computer. I think the keys to being successful are to accept change, be persistent and have plenty of patience.”

Employees are invited to attend the Levindale awards ceremony every five years that they work there. Idriz Limaj, the chief operating officer of Post-Acute Services at LifeBridge Health, and David Uhlfelder, the chairman of the Board of Directors, spoke to the group that evening to let them know that their efforts make a real difference in the lives of their residents and patients and how they help them enjoy life to the fullest.

In addition to the formal ceremony, there was also plenty of time for laughter, selfies and chatting with colleagues and families. For more photos from the event, visit http://bit.ly/1GNdMP8

Levindale is part of LifeBridge Health, one of the largest providers of health services in Maryland. In addition to Levindale, LifeBridge Health includes Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital, Carroll Hospital and related subsidiaries and affiliates.
