Pikesville High School Evacuated for Fire: Officials

The fire broke out Wednesday morning, Baltimore County public safety officials said.

A small fire was reported at Pikesville High School Wednesday morning, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

The building in the 7600 block of Labyrinth Road was evacuated, police reported at 10:08 a.m.

Smoke was filling the front office of the school at 10:06 a.m., according to The Pipeline, Pikesville High School’s student-run newspaper.

Police said the fire was related to ongoing construction at the school.

Renovations at the 50-year-old Pikesville High School began in June 2014, involving sweeping changes to modernize the facility for learning and safety standards, according to Baltimore County Public Schools.

The $44.9 million project is slated for completion by summer 2017.
