Jewish leaders urge Montgomery County school officials to combat 'skyrocketing' antisemitism (fox5dc.com) — A Potomac rabbi and more than 40 other Jewish leaders are pressing Montgomery County Public Schools to respond more forcefully to what they call skyrocketing antisemitism in local schools. They're urging better teacher training, experiential Holocaust and identity education, and clear social media rules after recent swastika incidents in Bethesda-area schools.
   

2. First-Year Katherine Yao Named United East Player of Week (southernmarylandchronicle.com) — Two local tennis standouts from North Potomac and Potomac are leading St. Mary's College to an impressive start, sweeping the United East Conference women's weekly awards this fall. First-year player Katherine Yao just earned Player of the Week after a strong regional tournament run, following back-to-back honors for sophomore teammate Lily Ganjbaksh.
   

3. Cash, Plates, Speed Cameras: Maryland's Oct. 1 Laws (southernmarylandchronicle.com) — New Maryland laws taking effect Oct. 1 will change how you pay at stores, handle out-of-state plates, face speed cameras, and see teen gun cases handled in court. One measure especially resonates in Potomac: the Jillian and Lindsay Wiener Short-Term Rental Safety Act, inspired by two local sisters, now requires stronger fire safety in vacation rentals statewide.
   

4. Rockville Ranks in the Top 2% of Small Cities in America According to Report (mocoshow.com) — Potomac ranks in the 73rd percentile among more than 1,300 small U.S. cities in WalletHub's 2026 livability report, putting it solidly above average. Nearby Rockville cracked the top 30 nationwide, with Bethesda, Gaithersburg and Olney also scoring well. The study weighed housing, schools, safety, economic health and quality of life.
