POTOMAC, MD — A popular men's grooming salon offering an elevated barbershop experience has officially set the date for its second Montgomery County opening.

Hammer & Nails told Patch it will open its newest location at 7735 Tuckerman Lane, Suite 650, in Potomac's Cabin John shopping center.

An open house celebration is scheduled for Oct. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the grand opening on Oct. 23.

The shop operates on a membership model, but walk-ins are welcome.

In addition to its range of grooming services, what elevates the salon is the atmosphere that's provided: while sitting for an appointment, customers are treated to oversized leather recliners, mood lighting, noise-canceling headphones, and a selection of screens to catch the latest sports games.

The opening follows the establishment of the Hammer & Nails Bethesda salon on Woodmont Avenue.

Husband-and-wife team Brad and Melissa Blanken operate both locations and previously told Patch they jumped on the Hammer & Nails train because they wanted to latch onto a community-driven business venture.

"We're a men's grooming services company, so we're focused on delivering those services and lifting people up in that regard," Brad told Patch. "But if people feel in this space just a little bit lighter or a little bit less burdened, a little bit more stress-free, then we'll have succeeded."

"We want to be a positive member of the community. That's my biggest goal. If I'm meaningfully contributing to the community, then I'll have done my job," he said.

The couple has plans to open a third location; however, the opening date largely depends on the construction timeline for a building not yet built at the Kentlands Market Square shopping center in Gaithersburg.
