MD 2/4 Widening Stalled in New State Budget (southernmarylandchronicle.com) β Plans to widen the congested MD 2/4 corridor through Prince Frederick have been effectively put on hold in Maryland's new six-year transportation budget, leaving local drivers facing continued backups. While the state is funding studies for the Gov. Thomas Johnson Bridge and safety upgrades on MD 231, no construction money is programmed for expanding MD 2/4. Several smaller road, safety, and transit projects in Calvert still move forward.

Calvert County Sheriff's Office Seeks Four Wanted Individuals (thebaynet.com) β From Prince Frederick, the Calvert County Sheriff's Office is asking residents to help locate four people currently wanted, three on child support matters and one for failure to appear on drug and theft charges. If you recognize any of the names or have information, you're urged to call the sheriff's office or the listed deputies directly to assist.

Where Maryland Remembers: 9/11 Memorials and 25th Anniversary Events Across the State (mdbaynews.com) β Calvert County Fire-Rescue-EMS will hold a 9/11 Memorial & Remembrance Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11, at Calvert Elks Lodge on Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick. While it's geared to Fire-Rescue-EMS providers, Prince Frederick readers can also explore this statewide guide to 25th-anniversary memorials, runs, rides, and ceremonies happening across Maryland this September.

Calvert Chamber's Annual State Of The County Returns To Rod 'N' Reel Resort (thebaynet.com) β Prince Frederick residents are invited to the Calvert County Chamber's annual State of the County on Oct. 1 at Rod 'N' Reel Resort in Chesapeake Beach, featuring county commissioners, the sheriff, and the school superintendent. Expect updates on the local economy, schools, public safety, and a Q&A where you can raise your own questions about Calvert County's direction.

5. Walter L. Wells, 73, (smnewsnet.com) β Prince Frederick is mourning the loss of 73-year-old farmer Walter L. Wells, who died after a farming accident on August 20. A lifelong resident, he worked Taney Place farm for decades, co-founded Battle Creek Beef, and served on local farm and fire department boards, leaving a legacy of hard work, generosity, and dedication to Calvert County agriculture.
