
Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker will be running for a second term, according to a press release issued on Wednesday evening.
According to the release, Baker will be kicking off his 2014 re-election campaign with a barbecue at the Newton White Mansion at 2708 Enterprise Road in Mitchellville on Thursday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m.So, what kind of message will Baker be emphasizing in his reelection run? His BBQ announcement could provide a preview of his arguments, which emphasizes improvements "on all the major issues" facing Prince George's County.

"Rushern Baker changed the pay-to-play perception of Prince George's by putting meaningful ethics reform in place. Under the Baker administration, Prince George's County has $4 billion in potential…new development, including high-end retail and dining, more healthy shopping options, the first destination resort in the metropolitan area; and a new cornerstone for health care delivery, a new teaching hospital," reads the release.
"In addition, the Baker Administration reorganized the government and has made permitting faster and code enforcement a reality. And, under the Baker Administration, crime has been driven to a 30 year record low and we have restructured our Board of Education to create an environment for a new CEO to more rapidly improve our public school system," reads the release.
