The Energy Coach - Who Is She?

Ever wondered who the Energy Coach that we're always talking about is? Find out how she can help you!

You may have seen STEP-UP interns and walking around the neighborhood knocking on doors. They have been talking to homeowners about signing up for STEP-UP and learning about their options for energy efficiency.

Lately, though, there has been some question as to the role of the Energy Coach. I plan to address at least a few of the common queries that show up during door-to-door meetings about Suzanne Parmet, University Park's resident Energy Coach.

Q: What is the STEP-UP Energy Coach?
A: The Town’s Energy Coach assists residents of University Park in making use of the STEP-UP program and related financial incentives. The Energy Coach's role is to answer questions, provide information, and support STEP-UP participants as they make choices related to auditors, interpreting their home audit reports, selecting contractors, and accessing financial incentives. She is available for coaching through every step of the process.

Q: What can the Energy Coach do for me?
A: Participants may call upon the Energy Coach to assist them with every step of the energy improvement process, including:

  • Providing general information
  • Discussing issues to consider when selecting an auditor or contractor
  • Explaining audit reports
  • Reviewing recommended improvements and proposals
  • Describing available financial tools and incentives
  • Assisting with the paperwork required to apply for incentives
