Discovering Your Civil War Ancestry

The Maryland Historical Society will offer a workshop teaching people how to search for their Civil War genealogy.

With the Civil War's 150th anniversary beginning this year, many Americans have found an interest not only in the war itself but in how their ancestors may have been involved with it.

On Sept. 10, the Maryland Historical Society in conjunction with the Maryland Genealogical Society will present a workshop in which people can learn how to research their own Civil War ancestry.

It'll feature three speakers — Michael Hait, David Shriver Lovelace and Michael Musick — on various aspects of the subject, followed by individual research assistance from experts.
